Use
Keyboard Shortcuts to Copy and Paste
If
you ever need to copy a lot of text in QuickBooks, you can save
yourself a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome by using the
CTRL+O (copy) and CTRL+V (paste) keyboard shortcuts. As you are
probably aware, the "right-click" mouse feature to
quickly access coping and pasting of highlighted text common
to most windows based programs is not available in any of the
most recent QuickBooks versions. After highlighting text you
must move the mouse up to the Edit menu and select copy. Then
after positioning the cursor in the target field, you must once
again move the mouse to the Edit menu and select paste.
You
can accomplish copying of text easier and faster by highlighting
the text and then pressing the letter O while at the same time
holding down the CTRL key. Then when you are ready to paste the
text in the target field, simply hold down the CTRL key again
and press the letter V. If you have an accounts payable or journal
entry that is being distributed to several accounts, this comes
in handy for copying the memo field to explain the entry.
To
save even more time when you are copying the same text to several
fields, once you have the highlighted text selected for copying
with the CTRL+O command, you can just keep using the CTRL+V paste
function without having to recopy the original text.
